For the second year in a row, Solon has been named the digital capital of Ohio! The award recognizes the strongest online business communities in all 50 states. Solon is the first city in Ohio to receive the award.
“Solon serves as a prime example of how innovation and growth in e-commerce can successfully contribute to bolstering economic progress and competitiveness,” said Brett Willms, director of small business marketing at Google.
“Google is proud to recognize Solon’s accomplishment, and the role it plays in creating Ohio jobs.”
Solon is a business hub with large companies, such as Nestle. But in recent years, city officials say, Solon has been home to growing small businesses.
“Given the critical role that technology plays in driving growth and creating jobs, I am so proud of the Solon small business community for leading the charge in Ohio in embracing the web,” said Mayor Susan Drucker.
This is one of the reasons why the Solon Chamber of Commerce made the decision to re-brand itself in 2013. A new logo and website all reflect this significant and prestigious award by Google. Our new tagline plays off the “e” concept…Empowering, Educating and Engaging Business. Take a close look at the symbol within our new logo and you will see a power button that has been turned on its side to read as an “e”.
The Shop Solon First website created by the Solon Chamber of Commerce in 2013 also positions the city as leading the way digitally and connects residents with all there is to do within the city of Solon. It is a coalition of locally minded independent businesses, citizens, and organizations working to promote our vibrant community. Go check it out for yourself and Shop Solon First!
