Solon Chamber of Commerce

Speaker: Stephanie York, Hennes Communications

Social Media – Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat and more – are now the places where a reputation built up over years of good work can be shattered in an instant. So, isn’t it crucial to understand social media, how to react when attacked on it – and how to use it to your advantage?

Experience has shown that the faster and more forthrightly a company responds when an event begins to emerge on social media, the more likely it is to contain or neutralize what might otherwise become an extended and damaging attack on its reputation and brand. The challenge is being able to quickly assess which online comments and activity warrant a response, the degree of response called for and the content of that response – in situations where not all the facts are known and multiple parties within the organization must have a say in what is issued.

The seminar places an emphasis on pragmatic, practical tools you can use to succeed on social media. Those best practices include:
How the fundamental rules of effective crisis communications apply to social media.
What to do with your social media channels before the crisis.
How to evaluate social media threats and how that assessment helps determine your response.
How to leverage your social media outlets and make them work for you in reaching key stakeholders – the people who care most about you and your organization.
The overall approaches that apply to all social media interaction.
Specific action steps to take when dealing with social media threats.

This fast-paced talk will focus on a highly-strategic approach to communicating during a wide variety of situations, offering methods for establishing and maintaining “control of the message,” enabling you to move your message forward or mount a defense against a sudden press onslaught.

Recently, we’ve seen a dramatic increase in the number of businesses falling victim to cyber criminals, hacking, viruses, malware and all manner of nasty security threats.
We’ve also seen an increase in the number of businesses who allow employees to bring their own devices to work and/or access the company network from home using their personal computer, tablet or phone.

Naturally this raises a NUMBER of questions and concerns over security.

Part 1 of the Educational Breakfast Series will focus on this topic to answer important questions and to help inform executives on the use of best practices with their networks.

We will be discussing important topics such as:
The #1 security threat to your business that antivirus, firewalls and other security protocols can’t protect against.
Why firewalls and antivirus software aren’t enough anymore.
How mobile phones and cloud applications are seriously jeopardizing your organization’s security and data protection – and what you need to do to protect yourself.
How to avoid being a sitting duck to cybercriminals and protect everything you’ve worked so hard to achieve.

This will be an extremely valuable event with important information presented by industry leaders on the topics of IT Security and Cyber Insurance (how to go about your daily business WORRY FREE). Attendees will not only leave with extremely valuable information to protect their organizations from these dangers.

All business executives, members and non-members, are welcome to attend. Feel free to share this information with other executives you know that you feel would be interested in these topics.
