Thomas M. Bennett Jr. chosen to lead the Chamber
January 17, 2018; Solon, OH The Solon Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors has named Thomas M. Bennett Jr. as its new President/CEO. Bennett replaces Jennifer Natale, who left the Chamber after leading the organization for five years before accepting a job with Cleveland Magazine.
Bennett’s first day with the Chamber will be Monday, January 22. As President/CEO, Bennett will oversee the Chamber’s operations as well as work with staff to ensure Chamber programs and services run with the highest degree of excellence that its membership has come to expect.
“I am honored and humbled to have been selected for this role,” said Bennett. The Solon Chamber of Commerce is a pillar of our community, and has an excellent track record of providing services for our membership and leadership on key issues affecting the City of Solon.
“I cannot wait to begin working with the staff, board and volunteers of this amazing organization.” Before joining the Chamber, Bennett served as the Executive Director of the Diabetes Partnership of Cleveland in Beachwood, Ohio. Bennett has also held management positions with EDWINS Leadership & Restaurant Institute, Global Cleveland, and Saint Martin de Porres High School. He has a bachelor’s degree in urban studies from the College of Wooster.
“The search committee appreciated the diversity of challenges the new President/CEO of the Chamber must be equipped to address. Vitally important to the committee was a person with a solid background understanding and supporting a membership-driven organization. Also of critical significance was a professional who could handle the various aspects from education and advocacy to celebrations and networking in the context of our rapidly changing business world. Tom Bennett fit our criteria with significant experience in the non-profit/advocacy arena plus is already a well-known and respected leader in our community,” said Cary Root, chairman of the board’s search committee.
“I would like to thank the selection committee for their diligence and hard work in choosing a new President/CEO who will lead the Chamber into the future. Tom’s prior experience, capability to lead and his enthusiasm make him an excellent choice to lead the Chamber, and the Board is excited to work with him,” said Cary Root, who is also the chairman of the Chamber’s Board of Directors.
